Last month I had an appointment for my annual physical.
I told the nurse about my family history:
Dad: Overweight; high blood pressure; died of a massive
heart attack at 58
Mom: Overweight; had uterine and colon cancer; now has a
colostomy ("bag"); loaded with debilitating arthritis in
every joint
Naturally, her reaction was: Yikes!
With that family history, why is it that, at age 45, I'm
on no meds whatsoever, my blood pressure is 90/55 and I'm
thin?
What's the difference?
Well, unlike my parents, I exercise vigorously 5 times a
week, and I don't drink to excess or smoke (like my Dad did).
But the single biggest difference is:
Food.
Growing up, our house was overflowing with cakes, cookies
and chips.
My Mom made weekly trips to the bakery for jelly donuts.
We had fried meats with lots of canned gravy.
Rice-a-roni and hamburger helper.
Fluffernutter sandwiches on white bread, Fritos and
Hostess cupcakes in my lunchbox.
Mis-combined meals at every sitting.
By the time I reached 21, I looked at myself and finally
realized what processed garbage does to your body. I
quickly got those poisons the heck out of my cupboard and
my life.
But that was only part of the answer.
Although I got thinner, I still had stomach agony after
nearly every meal. That is, until I learned what foods
play nice with other foods in the stomach.
As soon as I began combining my meals in the correct way,
my stomach symptoms disappeared. I dropped a few pounds
and kept them off forever--and I finally looked and felt
great!
But it was too late for my parents.
They had a lifetime of eating the wrong way and paid a
dear price.
It cost my Dad his life...
...and very nearly cost my Mom hers.
My Mom has since "woken up," but the changes she's made in
her diet were a little too late and couldn't undo the
damage that was done all those years.
So she wears a plastic bag glued over a hole in her side
instead of going to the bathroom like most people.
Her crippling arthritis makes her grimace with every step.
It breaks my heart...but all I can do is learn from her
mistakes.
And help you learn too!
Here's what Debbie has to say...
...she looked good but felt terrible
======
Dear Sherry:
I have suffered with stomach problems all my life.
I have gone from one doctor to another doctor to another
to try and end the pain I feel each and every day. I am a
health nut...exercise daily, eat healthy foods, avoid
sweets, etc. I am 5'8'' and between 125-130 lbs. I look
good but feel terrible.
When I read your information I thought I may as well give
it a try. I've tried hundreds of things in the
past...what's one more program. I have always believed
that one day I'd find a solution for my pain.
I am ecstatic to say the least! Your program works.
For the first time I can enjoy a meal and feel great after
I eat...no pain, no bloating, no stomach cramps...I feel
great!
I am so thankful for the information you have provided me.
I love your recipes...my family enjoys them also. With 7
children it is difficult to find meals all will enjoy.
Thank you for making an incredible difference in my life!
Debbie
Sherry: You're welcome, Debbie. May you and your family
