Before I began studying and living the eating principles
that evolved into the Great Taste No Pain, I ate what I
thought was a "healthy diet."
I ate only lean meats, vegetables, whole grains and
salads. I always ate fresh fruit. I stayed away from
packaged "foods" and fast food joints.
You've got to admit, that sounds like an exemplary diet,
right?
Wrong.
What I didn't know was that I was grossly mis-combining
the good foods I ate and creating digestive hell in my
stomach every day.
So I had regular gas, cramps and bloating, and went back
and forth between constipation and diarrhea.
(Does that sound familiar to you?)
And not only that, I always felt hungry, even just an hour
after eating a main meal. I didn't realize that was
because my body couldn't get the nutrients it needed from
my food.
Being weight-conscious, I didn't want to eat snacks, so I
would drink coffee or diet soda instead to fill me up.
That only added to the fireworks display in my gut.

Eating badly combined meals took its toll on me in other
ways too--skin problems at age 25. Not knowing it was
caused by the excess acid from WWIII going on in my
stomach, I went to a dermatologist and got an antibiotic
lotion.
The antibiotics cleared it up, but they also made the bad
bacteria in my gut (Candida) multiply faster than rabbits.
That added to my bloating and gas, and gave me a perpetual
yeast infection.
(Ladies, I'm sure you can identify with how pleasant that
was.)
There were the migraines too! I was popping Fiorinal
whenever my eyeballs felt like they were going to shoot out
of my head. I had no idea that I was causing those

And of course, all those pills gave me allergies.
Constant congestion for which I was given even more drugs --
steroids.
All this was the result of my meal choices (and their
drugs).
