How dangerous is this common food ingredient

There's an ingredient used in thousands of the foods that
most people eat every day that has proven so deadly, it is
frightening that it was ever allowed into our food supply,
and horrific that it is still dumped in by the megaton.

It's high fructose corn syrup (HFCS).

High fructose corn syrup has become the number 1 source of
calories in the US.  So it's everywhere. 

But it wasn't always that way.  Foods used to be sweetened
with sucrose--regular old table sugar made from sugar cane
or sugar beets.

But in the 1970's food manufacturers found that high
fructose corn syrup was not only cheaper to make, it was
also much sweeter.  Processed fructose is nearly 20 times
sweeter than regular table sugar.

Hmmm, let's see-it's cheaper to make, PLUS you use less of
it to sweeten a food or drink.  That's a no-brainer.  So
it's not surprising that use of HFCS has skyrocketed.

Now, many people are under the impression that since high
fructose corn syrup is made from corn that somehow makes it
"natural" or OK.

If only it were so.

High fructose corn syrup is so dangerous and harmful to
your body that if you eat foods that contain it on any
regular basis, you are practically guaranteed to be sick,
fat and die long before your time.

And no, I am not exaggerating one bit.

Here are just some of the dangers of HFCS:

1- Kidney disease/osteoporosis
===========================

High fructose corn syrup so acid-creating, your body has
to take alkaline minerals (like calcium from your bones)
just to neutralize the acid.

Since your kidneys filter acid wastes from the blood, this
puts a tremendous strain on them.  Also, since there are
higher levels of calcium in the blood, it can and often
does lead to kidney stones.

Your bones are harmed here too--losing significant amounts
of calcium can lead to osteoporosis.

2- High cholesterol
=================

In studies HFCS has been shown to cause an increase in
both total cholesterol and the low density lipoproteins
(LDL, or bad cholesterol).  This increases your risk of
heart disease.

3- Raised insulin levels
======================

High fructose corn syrup decreases the attraction of
insulin to sugar it's trying to metabolize in the body.  As
a result, the body needs to pump out more insulin to handle
the same amount of glucose.

Higher insulin levels like these are characteristic of
type II diabetes.

4- Higher uric acid concentrations
==============================

HFCS can lead to an increase in the concentration of uric
acid in your body.  An increase in uric acid can be an
indicator of heart disease, plus uric acid that settles in
the joints becomes arthritis.

5- Obesity
=========

High fructose corn syrup is not metabolized by your body
the same way as other sugars. 

Instead of being converted to glucose which the body uses
for cell energy, it's removed by the liver.  Therefore, it
doesn't cause the pancreas to release insulin the way it
does for other sugars. 

What this means is that fructose converts to fat more than
any other sugar.  And the ever-increasing size of
Americans' backsides are the proof.

6- Copper deficiency
==================

HFCS inhibits copper metabolism.  A deficiency in copper
leads to bone fragility, anemia, connective tissue defects,
infertility, heart arrhythmias, high cholesterol levels,
heart attacks, and an inability to control blood sugar
levels.

7- And the newest danger:  MERCURY
==============================

HFCS has been found to contain detectable levels of
mercury.

Mercury acts as a poison to your brain and nervous system.
It has been linked to fertility problems, memory and vision
loss, and trouble with blood pressure regulation.

Jellies and jams
Yogurt
Ice cream
Cereals
Snack chips and crackers
Breads
Candies
Syrups
Pickle relish
Non dairy whipped topping
Granola bars
Lunchables
Packaged pastries, snack cakes and cookies


So what should you do?  The less of this poison you put in
your body, the better.

Read labels and find alternatives.  Organic products
typically don't contain HFCS.  I always buy organic ketchup
and real maple syrup, for example.  I also make my own
salad dressing.  It's fast and way cheaper than premade
stuff.

Drink water instead of soda or sports drinks.  Soda is the
single largest source of HFCS consumption in the world. 

Plus the less that you rely on processed foods overall,
the better. 

Instead, feed your body REAL foods and you won't have to
worry about HFCS causing disease.
