The letter below needs little introduction from me.
A 70 year-old man (Don) with Ulcerative Colitis didn't
want to accept the gastroenterolist's sentence of having to
take Asacol for the rest of his life...so he took
responsibility for his own health instead.
See what he says:

In a word...amazing!
Dear Sherry,
It's been about two weeks now since I received your books
"Great Taste No Pain" and the results are exactly as you
promised.
Just short of two years ago I was suddenly hit with an
attack of diarrhea and incredible cramps and pain.
Although I had suffered for some years with bloating & gas,
I could usually trace it to problems with certain foods.
Looking back on what I ate that day, it should have come
as no surprise that my system might rebel. It was a busy
day with not much time for meals. Coffee & fruit in the
morning, some very strong "gourmet" coffee and a rich,
cherry filled brownie as a snack at a trade show for lunch.
Early evening with friends, red wine and way too many
snacks prior to dinner. Later that evening my digestive
system went berserk.
That diarrhea attack went on for 5...count them...5 weeks!
I wanted to see my doctor as soon as possible, but I
couldn't even leave my house. Fortunately, I'm semi-
retired, so getting to work was not a problem.
At first, I tried the usual over the counter solutions.
Nothing worked! I was finally able to keep an appointment
with my doctor and was given medication to stop the
attacks. Again no progress.
Finally my doctor advised that I must see a
Gastroenterologist, who immediately decided that I needed
both a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. Diagnosis: Ulcerative
colitis. Solution: The doctor put me on Asacol and advised
that IF certain foods bothered me, to avoid them.
I had no idea at the time that his advice would prove
almost useless.
That day almost two years ago has kept me searching for
answers... mostly with foods and food combinations. Some
days were good, some very bad with lots of pain and more
diarrhea type symptoms.
I tried some of the things suggested and sold on websites--
acacia powder, peppermint and fennel teas. The acacia
powder was a disaster, seeming only to make things much
worse. The teas helped some.
I was finally able to get enough control over the
situation that I could stop taking the Asacol at noon time,
but still needed it morning & night. My general
practitioner wanted me to go back to the
Gastroenterologist. I balked, feeling they didn't really
know what to tell me about my diet. Instead, I thought
some internet research might bring some answers.
Fortunately, I found your website and read about your books
( http://www.greattastenopain.com/great.asp ) It sounded
very interesting. I decided to order because I felt like I
finally had somebody on my side who knew what I was going
through every day.
As soon as I got the books, I couldn't stop reading them.
So much great information and it all made sense. Given all
the obese and sickly people in this country, it should not
come as a surprise that the common American diet is killing
us.
I feel like I am still in the very early stages of
recovery, thanks to GTNP, but the pain and feeling lousy
are gone. After the first week I stopped taking Asacol.
Not only did the diarrhea not return, but things starting
feeling even more normal.
I like to cook and have found a number of things I can
cook from your recommended correct combinations of foods.
Given that, it has really not been that difficult to make
the transition. I know as I learn more and progress, I
will be using your recipes to spice up the mix.
I'm astounded that I can now eat huge bowls of fruit and
enormous salads and not have instant diarrhea like I did
when eating those foods before.
Thanks so much for sharing your brilliant research and
experience. At 70 it's great to know that I have been
given information that is going to help me live my
remaining years with health, & vigorous energy.
I have already been turning many friends onto your
website. You deserve a great deal of recognition for the
work you have done. I said at the beginning of this
email... "amazing"... and it is indeed that and more!
You have given me back my former life--pain free!
My sincere gratitude.

SB: Wow, Don. I'm all misty. Your story sounds just
like mine, except my diagnosis was IBS. I’m honored to help
you enjoy your golden years with health and vitality.
Now for the rest of you: Do you (or someone you know)
have Ulcerative Colitis and think that nothing can be done
besides taking drugs for the rest of your life? Think again.
Like Don says, the typical American diet is killing us and
he's right on. Your body cannot handle the onslaught of
horribly combined, acidic and processed foods that most
people eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. That
is not what the human body was designed to ingest. It
can't. Your body can't.
Most people notice the effects of an acidic diet in their
digestive system first, since that is our "front line of
defense" when these foods enter our bodies. That's why
over 100 million Americans are living with conditions like
acid reflux, diverticulitis, hiatal hernia, colitis, ulcers
and gastritis.
Don't let yourself be a statistic and a slave to pills.
Let Great Taste No Pain be YOUR answer to Ulcerative
Colitis and many other digestive problems.

Eating for great health and a more alkaline body was never
so easy and never tasted so good.
To your health,

PS: Another UC sufferer (John) is feeling better too:

Hi Sherry:
I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in October 2007
after noticing rectal bleeding and have a colonoscopy to
rule out bowel cancer.
When the specialist diagnosed my condition he prescribed
Salofalk enemas to be used in an effort to control the
symptoms. When I asked him how long I would have to take
the medication he told me that I would need it for life to
control each episode of the condition.
I decided to look for cures and started taking aloe vera
juice. My symptoms went away and I thought all was well.
I have just experienced the first outbreak since then and
went back to the doctor who again subscribed Salofalk and
subsequently Prednisolone. I again researched my condition
on line and found your Great Taste No Pain program.
I started the 4 day plan and found the food great and the
recipes easy to make and very tasty. Our diets have been
the traditional western diet of badly combined foods, so I
now see where my problems were coming from.
I ordered your complete plan on April 1, but am already
feeling great from the 4 day free plan. I look forward to
the lasting benefits of the full plan now that you have
shown me how to properly combine my food.
