If you've been a
reader of my emails for even a short time, you've
probably heard me mention my "other life" as a 2nd degree black
belt in karate.
I have the great
fortune to regularly work with a Grand Master instructor (an 8th
degree black belt) who believes in "reality training"...
...That means that
the fight doesn't always stay vertical with me on my feet. Many
times I get knocked to the ground, fight while I'm down there,
then get up again and fight some more.
And I'm doing this
as a small 49 year-old woman fighting a bunch of men who outsize
me and outrank me.
People have often
said to me, "I don't know how you can do it. Don't you hurt from
head to toe?"
Well, occasionally
I've gotten bruises, a black eye or a broken toe, but 99% of the
time, I feel great and pain-free before AND after the fight.
And that, my
friend, I attribute to these two things:
1- Having a a diet that
helps prevent pain-causing acid waste buildup
and
2- Keeping my Omega-3 essential fatty acid supply high.
Here's why these 2 simple measures are SO darn effective:
The
diet-pain connection
The typical diet
most people have is loaded with processed and fast food,
complex, hard to digest meals and refined carbohydrates, all
washed down with soda.
Be honest--if your
meals regularly feature meat, starch, maybe a token vegetable
and soda or coffee, or if your 4 food groups are Pizza Hut,
Krispy Kreme, Starbucks and Doritos, I'm talking about YOU.
Eating this way
creates a tremendous amount of acid waste in your system.
Now, your body is
very efficient and tries its hardest to neutralize or get rid of
all those acid wastes, but it can only do so much.

The role of
Omega-3 EFAs
Your body needs
both Omega-6 and Omega-3 EFAs--they operate together to protect
